The scanners with omni-directional scanning functionality lets operators quickly capture bar codes from any angle, eliminating the need to line up bar codes with laser lines. These scanners use digital imaging technology to accurately capture all types of two-dimensional (2D) and one-dimensional (1D) bar codes while offering the high performance typically found only in laser scanners. The omni-directional scanners decode virtually all of today's standard bar codes including 1D, RSS, PDF417, microPDF, EAN/UCC Composite, Matrix and Postal Codes regardless of orientation.
Laser Bar code Scanner are the most common type of Bar code Scanner. A laser Bar code Scanner need not be in contact with a barcode to read it. A standard range laser Bar code Scanner can read a barcode from about 6 to 24 inches away, and a long range Bar code Scanner can read one from perhaps 2 to 8 feet away.
